The
Story Of Chandelika
Traditional Nepalese Buddhist Ballet
Benefit Performance on October 7th 2007
Welcome
to Chandelika, a touching story of a ‘low caste’ girl whose chance encounter
with the Buddha changes her life, and his, forever. Danced in the classic Charya
Nrittra style of the Royal Nepal Dance Academy, this folk tale from Nepal speaks
to us today about the power of love and acceptance. Choreographed and produced
by Tara Gurung-Black,
a noted Nepali dancer, this unique form of sacred dance is rarely performed
outside of Nepal. All proceeds from this benefit performance will go to
rebuilding the Shree Jyoti Elementary and Middle School in Armala, Nepal.

Come and experience an afternoon of authentic Nepalese music and sacred dance.
